The SendSafely for Intercom Sheet app is installed from the SendSafely Apps and Integrations page. You must be a SendSafely administrator in order to install the app.
SendSafely for Intercom is available to customers on the SendSafely Enterprise plan.
Step by Step Instructions
1. Begin in the SendSafely web portal:
From the Apps and Integrations page, click the Get it Now button under SendSafely for Intercom.
A modal describes the permissions Intercom requires for all Sheet app installations. As these permissions are not required for the ongoing use of the SendSafely app, we recommend they are revoked once installation is complete. Click Continue.
2. Install App in Intercom:
After clicking continue you are directed to Intercom to continue the app installation in your Intercom Workspace.
3. Choose Target Dropzone:
Once the app is installed in Intercom, you are redirected to the SendSafely Apps & Integrations page to select the target Dropzone for uploaded files. The Intercom integration will not operate until this set up step is complete. We recommend a Service account is used for your Intercom Dropzone.
- The SendSafely Dropzone dropdown list displays all active Dropzones in your SendSafely web portal.
- After the installation is complete, we recommend that you delete the oAuth token that was automatically granted to the app during the install process. This token is not required by SendSafely. A link to revoke the token is displayed on the intercom configuration model.
- The target Dropzone can be updated here at any time by a SendSafely Admin by clicking the Configure button from the Apps and Integrations page.
4. Review target Dropzone configuration.
In this step, you will confirm the target Dropzone selected above is configured correctly for use with the Intercom App
IMPORTANT: Pay special attention to the two areas of the screen highlighted above, which are explained in more detail below.
- Dropzone Recipients - The top section represents the individual SendSafely users (your agents) who can access uploaded files. To add a new recipient, type the user's email into the "Add a user email" text box.
- Expiration (Days) - This is the number of days uploaded files will be available for viewing by agents. 5 days after this time period, files are deleted. Ensure the length of time set here is appropriate for your agent workflow and data retention policies.
- Notification Settings - When using a Dropzone with the SendSafely app we recommend you use "Do not notify recipients" or "Use a webhook for notifications".
Note: The webhook option is not required but is recommended for the best end-user and agent experience. This option requires additional setup outlined here.
