SendSafely is a cloud platform hosted in Amazon AWS data centers. The global footprint of AWS allows us to provide top system performance and availability regardless of user location as well as support for data center isolation within a specific geographic region.
By default, SendSafely instances are not isolated to a particular region, but exist in us-east-1, with a backup in eu-west-1.
SendSafely has a number of geographic hosting options available to Business and Enterprise customers to support compliance with applicable data protection laws and regulations as well as to maximize system performance for a worldwide user base.
Data Center Isolation
SendSafely has full isolated tech stacks available in the following geographic areas:
- USA - us-east-1 (N. Virginia), with backup in us-west-2 (Oregon)
- Europe - eu-west-1 (Dublin), with backup in eu-central-1 (Frankfurt)
- Australia - ap-southeast-2 (Sydney)
Business and Enterprise Customers can elect to have their entire SendSafely instance and infrastructure isolated to one of the above geographic locations (including DR and backup instances). Please note that certain customer data (e.g., limited customer billing information, limited user profile data and metadata, and information relating to customer satisfaction surveys) may still be processed outside of the selected geographic region, as described in the SendSafely Data Processing Addendum.
S3 File Storage Isolation
SendSafely utilizes Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) for the storage of all end-to-end encrypted files and messages transferred using our service. Business and Enterprise Customers can elect to use an Amazon S3 bucket for encrypted file storage in any Amazon data center location worldwide. Customers can also utilize their own S3 bucket for file storage. Please note that with this option, SendSafely infrastructure (front-end servers and back-end databases) remain hosted in one of the data centers listed above.
S3 Tri-Region Hosting
Our Tri-Region S3 configuration is a available to our Enterprise customers and replicates the storage of the encrypted files across three global regions (North America, Europe and Asia) and automatically routes users to the nearest data center for uploads/downloads based on the geolocation of their IP address, providing significant performance gains when transferring large files.
Tri-Region S3 Hosting leverages S3 buckets in the following locations:
- us-west-2 (Oregon)
- eu-west-1 (Dublin)
- ap-southeast-1 (Singapore)
