Business and Enterprise customers can utilize their own email domain for delivery of SendSafely notification emails. This option improves the overall brand experience for guest recipients and results in higher email deliverability for end users with strict firewall or email filter settings.
By default, all SendSafely notification emails, including new item alerts, pick up notices and pin code messages are sent from notifications@sendsafely.com. Once enabled, this feature allows these email messages to be sent from an address within your own email domain instead (ie. address@company.com).
Enabling a Custom Email Domain
To enable this feature, your SendSafely Portal Administrator must submit a request to the SendSafely Support team. For security and identity verification purposes, the request must be made by your organization’s SendSafely Portal Administrator and submitted as a SendSafely secure message from the administrator’s SendSafely account. Please follow these steps:
- Log into SendSafely with an Administrator account
- Click the "Send" link, than "Add Message", and type a secure message that includes the email address you would like to use for notifications and the authorization method you would like to use (refer to the Authorizing SendSafely to Send Email on your Behalf section below).
- Add support@sendsafely.com as a recipient
- Click the green Submit button, copy the secure link into an email with the subject "Request to enable custom email domain", and send to support@sendsafely.com
The SendSafely Support team will reply back confirming the request and provide any additional instructions that might be necessary.
Authorizing SendSafely to Send Email on your Behalf
Customers can choose one of two methods for authorizing SendSafely to send email using your custom domain:
Option 1 - SES Delegated Sender Authorization (Recommended)
For organizations that use AWS, you can choose to add SendSafely as a delegated sender for any verified identity in SES. This option is preferred as it allows your organization to retain complete control of the sending authorization policy. Details on how delegated sender access works can be found here: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/ses/latest/dg/sending-authorization-overview.html
Our support team will provide you with the specific sender authorization policy that you need to add within SES to enable this option.
Option 2 - SES Domain Authorization
This option authorizes SendSafely to directly send email from your domain using our Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) account. This option is recommended for companies that do not already use AWS. Authorization can be done at the domain level or at the subdomain level.
- Domain Level Authorization - In order to send email using address@company.com, you must authorize company.com.
- Subdomain Level Authorization - If you prefer to authorize a dedicated subdomain only (ie sendsafely.company.com) then emails will come from address@sendsafely.company.com.
Our support team will provide you with specific DNS entries that need to be created depending on the method of authorization you choose.
